ADVANCED FEMALE GENITAL INFECTION TESTING

ADVANCED FEMALE GENITAL INFECTION TESTING

Chronic infections of the genital tract have been associated with infertility and pregnancy losses.

We offer a test, whichis a highly sensitive for the diagnosisof infectious microorganisms such as Chlamydia, Ureoplasma or Mycoplasma. The test involves the examination of period’s blood, containing shed endometrial cells, using PCR technique. Unlike conventional tests, which only detect infections of the lower genital tract, this test can also detectinfections localized in the upper genital tract, which are often asymptomatic(“hidden”).

You can self-perform the test at home and send the sample to us via post.

If an infection is detected, we will recommend you treatment with specific antibiotics before trying for a natural conception or prior to your planned IVF cycle.

Chlamydia and infertility

The most commonly diagnosedsexually transmitted disease, found in approximately 5%- 10%of the sexually active young peopleis chlamydia, which is caused by a bacterium called Chlamydia trachomatis.

Most people who have chlamydiainfection will have no symptoms. If chlamydia left untreated can cause pelvic inflammatory disease in women, a condition associated with an increased risk of ectopic pregnancyand often results in the formation of adhesions and blockageof the Fallopian tubesleading to infertility.

If left untreated chlamydia could cause problems in pregnancy and in labour. In pregnancy chlamydia can cause premature rupture of the membranes andpreterm labour. During labour chlamydia could be passed from the mother to the baby and infectthe baby’s eyesorlungs.

What is endometrial flora?

Endometrium forms the lining of the uterus and is the place where the embryo implants when a pregnancy occurs. The endometrium is normally rich in healthy bacteria, known as the endometrial flora.

In some cases there are either too few or too many of the healthy bacteria and the balance of the endometrial flora is disrupted. This imbalance in the endometrial flora has been associated with embryo implantation failure.

What Endometriome test is?

Endometriome test is a diagnostic tool for the evaluation of the endometrial flora. If an imbalance is detected, it recommends the best probiotic or antibiotic treatment, in order to balance the endometrial flora and improve your pregnancy prospects.

Who could benefit from the test?

Endometriome test may be particularly beneficial if you have experienced recurrent implantation failures, including recurrent miscarriages or repeated unsuccessful IVF treatments including the transfer of embryos, which through genetic testing were found to be normal.

What the test involves?

It is a simple test that requires only a small endometrial sample, which is obtained with a pipelle. The sample is placed into a collection kit and is sent to the laboratory for analysis. The sample is assessed using the most up to date methods of next generation sequencing and the results are available within 3 weeks.
